Honda Plans On Going All Electric

As more automakers are looking to release new all-electric vehicles on the market, it's prompted Honda to pick up speed to remain competitive in the industry. Honda now plans to have all-electric cars available in its line-up by 2040. The EV models will first be available in China and will also include Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles.

Currently, Honda only has one electric vehicle available to its consumers in Europe with the Honda E. The Honda E is a compact car that relies on a battery for its power and is ideal for driving in urban environments. The battery quickly charges, which offers more convenience for commuters who need to quickly get on the road each day. The E is built with a 35.5 kWh battery and can obtain 80% of its charge in only 30 minutes. The advanced technology in the E also allows the vehicle to have better range capability with its thermal management system.

The Honda Prologue will also be released in the U.S. in 2024, which is an SUV that will deliver impressive performance from its battery. The Prologue is based on the Ultium electric platform from General Motors. Currently, the hybrid models that Honda manufactures include the Accord Hybrid, Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, and CR-V Hybrid.

Honda has stated that it plans to electrify approximately two-thirds of the global automobile sales in 2030 and will also manufacture fuel cell vehicles. By 2030, Honda plans to sell approximately 500,000 BEVs. There have already been 70,000 sales of the Honda Prologue, proving there's an increasing demand for electric vehicles in the industry.

All of the EV Honda models that are released in the U.S. will have battery packs that General Motors provide. The Japanese brand has informed dealerships in the U.S. that it is going to take a more regional approach as it transitions to selling all-electric models to the public.

Other car brands that are currently planning to release more EV models include Cadillac and Acura. Some car brands like Toyota have been apprehensive about fully transitioning to all-electric vehicles in the coming years.
